Intention

Intention:

We are taking a "year Out" with our family in order to deepen our connection to one another by exploring the world together.

This is a trip of a lifetime and will be an education for us all.

I am hoping that spending this time together, uninterrupted by the usual routines of our day to day life will strengthen our relationships, give us the opportunity to learn from each other and learn more about each other.

I know that simply by traveling we will learn in countless ways.

We will be doing a self design home schooling program that I hope will help internalize this learning and support meaningful reflection.

Mia St.K's Cornwall

Ruben and I made dinner together by our selves last week. I made an appetizer of Grilled tomato Bruschetta, Ruben made a chocolate mousse for desert and we worked together and made an Italian chicken entree. We had looked on line for recipes and planned what we were going to make. We made a shopping list and went and got the groceries which I paid for with my own money. Over all it was a great meal. Mom and dad rated it and they both gave the diner a 9 out of ten. The reason we wanted to do this was because we had been inspired from watching a show called master chef which gave us the idea. Another cooking project we did this week was with mom. We made our first marmalade with fifteen oranges. It was really exiting and we did a good job.

I have just finished a sewing project from a company called Alikits. You can make all different kinds of felt stuffed animals. I made a cat and have just mailed it off to my little cousin Anna for her birthday. It took me four days to make and I really enjoyed it, the end product was really nice as you can see in the photo. I have been painting quite a lot , we recently have been to an art supply shop and I got some water colour paper.

We have been on a few nice walks here in Cornwall. We went to a beautiful beach at Perranporth where there was a really big sun dial. It was to bad we could hardly see the sun and unable to tell the time with out it. We also went on a walk at The Lizard which is the most southerly point of England. We had a great day romping around on the beach and looking at big caves inside the rocks. It is amazing how many ship wrecks there have been on The Lizard. We saw a map showing hundreds of ships that had sunk in the area.

We also went to the town of St. Keverne where some of my relatives are from. When they left for Canada some of them used St. keverne as their middle name. This is how I came to have St. keverne in my name.

We are staying on a farm where there are chickens, cows, a dog, a cat and a pig and this gives us a lot to do like feeding the animals collecting the eggs, taking the pig from pen to pen, taking the dog on walks and stroking the cat when we get the chance. We are staying with a Vicar and her husband and they have taken us to services in her Parish and we also got to see a beautiful boys choir practicing in the Cathedral.

I am reading the classic story Wind in the willows by Kenneth Grahame. Last night we went to a play in the nearby town of Ladock. The play was Toad of Toad Hall ! It was all about Toad and what happened to Toad during his adventures with Mole and Ratty. The costumes and sets were really special and the actors who played Mole and Toad had really good facial expressions.

So far we are really enjoying ourselves here in Cornwall.
