Intention

Intention:

We are taking a "year Out" with our family in order to deepen our connection to one another by exploring the world together.

This is a trip of a lifetime and will be an education for us all.

I am hoping that spending this time together, uninterrupted by the usual routines of our day to day life will strengthen our relationships, give us the opportunity to learn from each other and learn more about each other.

I know that simply by traveling we will learn in countless ways.

We will be doing a self design home schooling program that I hope will help internalize this learning and support meaningful reflection.

Ottawa To Fredericton and Inbetween

There sure is a whole lot of learning to be had in Ottawa. We had a tour of the Parliament Buildings. We saw the giant 13 ton Carron Bell as we road the elevator in the Peace Tower. In the National Art gallery we saw cool paintings and sculptures. Our second day in Ottawa we visited the Museum of Civilization where we had a speedy cross Canada tour. We visited the Aviation Museum and enjoyed a private tour of War Museum with the historian Jacques Giasson. We really appreciated the architecture of this building and the beauty of the memorial there. Ruben found the trenches, artillery and tanks fascinating. On our way Montreal we stopped at Upper Canada Village. We had an amazing afternoon there. Mia would like to work there when she is older. We met the Cheese Maker, Weavers, the Miller, Cobler, Tinsmith and the Doctor’s wife.
We made it to Montreal to catch up with our beloved friends Omega, Felix, Jose and Zoltan. We toured around the Plateau for hours and the kids enjoyed fooling around together. We had an opportunity to attend a Waffle Party with some old and new friends . Mia and friends sold limonade in the afternoon.
Quebec City was next on our route .The sun shone for the morning and we had our first experience of a funicular. The rain came down and we bought “nerdy” rain ponchos so we could continue exploring.  We have made our way to Fredericton and enjoyed the warm hospitality of our first SERVAS hosts, the wonderful Zuidhof family. It was a great time to roll into Fredericton as it is the annual Harvest Jazz Festival where we got to hear some wonderful tunes on the street.
