Intention

Intention:

We are taking a "year Out" with our family in order to deepen our connection to one another by exploring the world together.

This is a trip of a lifetime and will be an education for us all.

I am hoping that spending this time together, uninterrupted by the usual routines of our day to day life will strengthen our relationships, give us the opportunity to learn from each other and learn more about each other.

I know that simply by traveling we will learn in countless ways.

We will be doing a self design home schooling program that I hope will help internalize this learning and support meaningful reflection.

The Itinerary

We recently purchased a sweet bright blue VW camper Van. Ruben and Mia have already spent a number of nights sleeping in it on the front lawn with their friends. We plan to leave Cortes on Sunday August 14th. We have a number of appointments and people to kiss in Vancouver. We intend to leave Vancouver on the 18th and start our adventure by seeing as much  of Canada in a month and a half!
On October 1st we take the train from Montreal to New York, there we meet up with Tom's parents for one week before departing on the Queen Mary 2 across the Atalntic. For the next month and a bit we will trip around England, Scotland and Ireland before making our way to Venice for a November festival. From Venice we believe we will head to Spain, then Portugal and then cross over to Morocco, where we hope to have the opportunity to volunteer in a Children's hospital and on an orphanage. From there we think we will make our way to Turkey , then on to Greece back in to Italy and finally France.
Now not all of this may in fact actually come to pass, the idea is that it is all fairly flexible and open to change en route. We may find that the money we have saved does not last for nearly as long as we hope or instead we may find that the energy and stamina required for this adventure runs out. The other possibility for change in the itinerary is that we are applying for house sits and as different opportunities present themselves our route will change.  We will keep you posted!
